Tyler, the Creator's fourth studio album, "Flower Boy" (also known as "Scum Fuck Flower Boy"), was released on July 21, 2017, by Columbia Records. Tyler, the Creator produced the entire album and collaborated with a variety of artists, including Frank Ocean, Lil Wayne, Kali Uchis, and Jaden Smith.

Four singles were released from the album, including "Who Dat Boy", "Boredom", "I Ain't Got Time!", and "See You Again". "Flower Boy" received widespread critical acclaim for its unique blend of genres, smoothness, and production, and it debuted at number two on the US Billboard 200. Tyler, the Creator decided to take a more personal approach with "Flower Boy" compared to his previous album, "Cherry Bomb", in which he purposely avoided getting personal.

Recording began in late 2015, and Tyler, the Creator himself produced the album, with Austin Feinstein playing guitar on many of the tracks. Tyler, the Creator's goal was to create an album that would follow up well after "Cherry Bomb", which had received a poor response. The official album title was originally thought to be "Scum Fuck Flower Boy", but it was later changed to simply "Flower Boy".

Tyler, the Creator was inspired by the works of Max Martin, Pharrell Williams, and Justin Timberlake in creating the album.
