Taylor Swift worked with producers Aaron Dessner and Jack Antonoff virtually, while recording her vocals in her inbuilt studio in her Los Angeles home.
Departing from her previous pop music style, "Folklore" features mellow ballads with neo-classical instruments, pursuing indie folk, alternative rock, and electroacoustic styles. Taylor Swift explores themes of escapism, empathy, nostalgia and romanticism in the album.
"Folklore" received widespread critical acclaim and broke various records. It won Album of the Year at the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards, and Taylor Swift performed it live in the Disney+ concert documentary Folklore: "The Long Pond Studio Sessions".
