Taylor Swift's second studio album, "Fearless", was released on November 11, 2008, by Big Machine Records in the United States and Canada. The international edition was released on March 9, 2009. The majority of the songs were written by Taylor Swift herself, with additional songwriting credits from Liz Rose, Hillary Lindsey, Colbie Caillat, and John Rich. Taylor Swift also co-produced all of the songs with Nathan Chapman.

The album is a mix of country and pop, featuring traditional country instruments such as banjos, fiddles, mandolins, and acoustic guitars, as well as electric guitars. The lyrics explore themes of romance, heartache, and aspirations, inspired by Taylor Swift's experiences as a teenager. The album's title refers to Taylor Swift's courage to embrace the challenges of love.

After the album's release, Taylor Swift went on the Fearless Tour from April 2009 to July 2010. Five songs from the album were released as singles, including "Love Story", "You Belong with Me", and "Fearless", all of which were successful on both country and pop radio.

The album spent eleven weeks atop the U.S. Billboard 200 and was certified Diamond by the Recording Industry Association of America. It received multi-platinum certifications in several other countries and has sold twelve million copies worldwide as of April 2021.

Music critics praised Taylor Swift's songwriting on "Fearless" for offering radio-friendly tunes and engaging narratives, though some found the production formulaic. The album won Album of the Year at both the Country Music Association Awards and the Academy of Country Music Awards in 2009, as well as Album of the Year and Best Country Album at the 2010 Grammy Awards. In 2022, it was included on Rolling Stone's list of the 100 Greatest Country Albums of All Time.

In 2021, Taylor Swift released a re-recording of the album, titled "Fearless (Taylor's Version)" following a dispute over the ownership of her back catalog.
