Marine Girls "Beach Party"

The Marine Girls' first album, "Beach Party", was recorded in a home studio by Pat Bermingham and released in 1981 on his In Phaze label as a cassette. It was later released on vinyl by Whaam! Records in 1981 and by Cherry Red Records in 1987 and 2014. Cherry Red Records reissued both Beach Party and Lazy Ways with bonus tracks on one CD in 1988.

The album reached #29 on the UK Indie Charts in March 1982. AllMusic gave the album a 3-star rating and reviewer Stewart Mason noted that the Marine Girls deliberately chose to maintain a somewhat unpolished, unprofessional sound, which he believed was not necessarily a negative quality.

Kurt Cobain, in his diaries, listed Beach Party as one of his 50 favorite albums.
