One of the songs, "Miss Moon", talks about lovemaking during menstruation. In "Fall", a jazz ballad with orchestral accompaniment, the lyrics describe the literal decay of a leaf as a metaphor for the end of a relationship. "Naheo" pays homage to Summer's Native American roots, while "Curious White Boy" is a response from a Black woman to her white lover who she suspects is only with her out of racial guilt.
She questions whether he is only interested in her as a "housekeeper fantasy" or as a "coffee-colored remedy for his hangover from history”.
