The album "My War" is the second studio album of the American band, Black Flag, and was released in 1984. It is the first of three full-length albums that the band released that year. The album received mixed reactions from fans due to its B-side, which was slow and heavy, unlike the fast hardcore punk that the band was known for on their previous album, "Damaged".
After a period of legal trouble, the band returned to the studio with a new approach that incorporated a variety of styles, resulting in a sound that was difficult for orthodox punks to accept. The line-up had also changed, with only three members remaining. The album includes six high-paced, thrashy hardcore tracks on the A-side, and three tracks in a sludge metal style on the B-side.
Despite the mixed reception at the time of its release, "My War" is now regarded as one of Black Flag's seminal releases and had a significant influence on the development of sludge metal, grunge, and math rock.
