Ariana Grande's "Thank U, Next" is her fifth studio album, released in February 2019 by Republic Records, just six months after her previous album Sweetener. This album was created during a time of personal struggle for Ariana Grande, with the death of ex-boyfriend Mac Miller and the end of her engagement to Pete Davidson.

Ariana Grande worked on the album from October 2018 with a team of writers and producers, including Tommy Brown, Max Martin, Ilya Salmanzadeh, and Pop Wansel. Unlike her previous album releases, Ariana Grande did not follow a traditional promotion cycle for "Thank U, Next", which is predominantly pop in terms of its musical genre. The album's lyrics are personal and introspective, exploring themes such as grief, denial, and self-empowerment.

The album's title track and "7 Rings" were released as singles prior to the album's release and both debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, marking Ariana Grande's first two number-one songs in the United States. "Break Up with Your Girlfriend, I'm Bored" became the album's third single on the day of its release and reached number two on the Hot 100. All twelve of the album's tracks made it onto the Hot 100, with the singles occupying the top three spots, a feat no solo artist had previously accomplished.

"Thank U, Next" topped charts worldwide and set multiple streaming records upon release. It received critical acclaim for its cohesiveness, production, and Ariana Grande's vulnerability throughout the record. Several publications named it the best album of 2019 and it was included in numerous year-end and decade-end lists. Ariana Grande embarked on the Sweetener World Tour to support both "Sweetener" and "Thank U, Next". The album and its songs were nominated for several awards, including four Grammy Awards.
