Born on November 16, 1988, in London, Sampha began his music career as a vocalist and producer for other artists in the UK underground music scene. In 2010, Sampha gained recognition for his collaboration with SBTRKT on the album "SBTRKT", which included the hit single "Hold On". He continued to work with a variety of artists, including Drake, Solange, and Kanye West. In 2017, Sampha released his debut album "Process", which received critical acclaim and earned him the Mercury Prize. The album explored themes of grief and loss, drawing from Sampha's personal experiences. In addition to his solo work, Sampha has contributed to various film soundtracks, including "Beautiful Boy" and "We Are Who We Are".
